CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

  • Limitless - Dancers with Disabilities (12+)
    Tuesdays 6:30-7:15
    A class designed for dancers with physical and/or mental disabilities or impairments. This class focuses on creativity and self-expression with the added bonus of strengthening and flexibility work.  This class is customized to the needs of the students and moves at the pace specific to those interests and needs.

    This class includes performance opportunities in the fall and spring quarters.

  • Preschool Creative Dance (3-5)
    Wednesdays 10:30-11:15 am
    Dancers discover how to move and stretch their bodies in new ways using rhythm, music, and imaginative improvisation. They experience jumping, hopping, spinning, changing levels, and simple patterns through space while stimulated by props, stories, art, poetry, and music.

    This class includes performance opportunities in the fall and spring quarters.

  • Preschool-Kindergarten Creative Dance (4-6)
    Wednesdays 4:00-4:45 pm
    Dancers discover how to move and stretch their bodies in new ways using rhythm, music, and imaginative improvisation. They experience jumping, hopping, spinning, changing levels, and simple patterns through space while stimulated by props, stories, art, poetry, and music.

    This class includes performance opportunities in the fall and spring quarters.

  • Kindergarten-1st Grade Creative Dance (5-7)
    Mondays 4:15-5:00 pm
    Dancers discover how to move and stretch their bodies in new ways using rhythm, music, and imaginative improvisation. They experience jumping, hopping, spinning, changing levels, and simple patterns through space while stimulated by props, stories, art, poetry, and music.

  • 1st-2nd Grade Creative Dance (6-8)
    Thursdays 4:30-5:30 pm
    Creative dance combines skill development and self-expression. Dancers will learn balance, body control, dynamics, and simple patterns through space while stimulated by props, stories, art, poetry and music.

    This class includes performance opportunities in the fall and spring quarters.

  • 2nd-3rd Grade Creative Dance (7-9)
    Tuesdays 4:15-5:15 pm
    Creative dance combines skill development and self-expression. Dancers will increase strength and flexibility through balance, body control, dynamics, and simple patterns. Dancers will apply the elements of dance: space, time, and energy. They will begin to work in groups to problem solve and express ideas through putting movement patterns together into dance phrases.

    This class includes performance opportunities in the fall and spring quarters.

  • 3rd-4th Grade Creative Dance (8-10)
    Mondays 5:00-6:15 pm
    Creative dance combines skill development and self-expression. Dancers will increase strength and flexibility through balance, body control, dynamics, and simple patterns.   • 5th-6th Grade Modern Dance (10-12)
    Wednesdays 4:45-6:00 pm
    Dancers will learn basic modern dance technique, as well as expand creative development through improvisation and choreography. They will explore ways to express ideas using space, time, and energy, as well as increase performance skills.

  • 6th-8th Grade Modern Dance (11-15 yrs)
    Thursdays 5:30-7:00 pm
    Dancers will experience an emphasis in modern dance technique and performance skills, as well as expand creative development through improvisation and choreography. They will become creative movers, critical thinkers, and collaborative workers as they explore ways to express ideas using space, time, and energy.

  • 7th-12th Grade Modern Dance (12-18)
    Mondays 6:30-7:45 pm
    Dancers will learn basic modern dance technique, as well as expand creative development through improvisation and choreography. They will explore ways to express ideas using space, time, and energy, as well as increase performance skills.

  • 9th-12th Grade Modern Dance (14-18)
    Thursdays 7:25-8:55 pm
    Dancers will experience an emphasis in modern dance technique and performance skills, as well as expand creative development through improvisation and choreography. They will become creative movers, critical thinkers, and collaborative workers as they explore ways to express ideas using space, time, and energy.

  • Adult Beginner Modern Dance (18+)
    Wednesdays
    6:00-7:00 pm
    This class is for anyone 18+ who wants to learn the basics of dance.  This class will focus on beginning dance technique, creative movement and improvisation, and contemporary and modern dance skills. No experience necessary. It’s never too late to discover a new passion or rediscover an old one.

    Taught by Caitlyn Jennings.

  • Adult Intermediate Modern Dance (18+)
    Mondays 7:50-8:50 pm
    This class will focus on intermediate and advanced modern dance technique, creative movement and improvisation, and contemporary and modern dance skills for ages 18+.

    Previous dance training recommended.

  • Moving with Grace - Creative Aging Through Modern Dance (Seniors & Adults)
    Wednesdays 9:30-10:15 am (Beginning January 8, 2025)
     This class is designed specifically to provide an adaptive approach to adults who want to learn the basics of modern dance with a specialized emphasis on creative aging through movement and self expression. A gentle-paced class for all levels that teaches basic modern dance technique, breath, and improvisation. Chairs will be available for movement adaptations. No experience necessary.  It’s never too late to discover a new passion or rediscover an old one.
