Modern Dance Pioneers Summer Camp
July 21-24, 2025
Join us for a fun-filled camp where dancers will explore movement, rhythm, and creativity as well as learn basic modern dance technique! Participants will work with different teachers throughout the camp to explore a variety of modern dance styles and creative expressions. Each participant will receive a Valley Dance Ensemble t-shirt and the camp will culminate in an exciting opportunity to dance with rhythm sticks in the Logan City Pioneer Day Parade!
Monday-Wednesday

10:15 am -12:15 pm - ages 5-7 & ages 8-10

6-Week Session CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
Limitless - Dancers with Disabilities (age 12+)
Tuesdays 6:30-7:15
A class designed for dancers with physical and/or mental disabilities or impairments. This class focuses on creativity and self-expression with the added bonus of strengthening and flexibility work. This class is customized to the needs of the students and moves at the pace specific to those interests and needs.Parents are invited to come into the classroom to observe the last 10 minutes of the last day of class.

Preschool Creative Dance (age 3-5)
Wednesdays 10:30-11:15 amDuring this fun 6 week session, dancers will discover how to move and stretch their bodies in new ways using rhythm, music, and imaginative improvisation. They will experience jumping, hopping, spinning, changing levels, and simple patterns through space while stimulated by props, stories, art, poetry, and music.
Parents are invited to come into the classroom to observe the last 10 minutes of the last day of class.

Kindergarten-2nd Grade Creative Dance (age 5-8)
Thursdays 4:30-5:30 pmCreative dance combines skill development and self-expression. Dancers will learn balance, body control, dynamics, and simple patterns through space while stimulated by props, stories, art, poetry and music.
Parents are invited to come into the classroom to observe the last 10 minutes of the last day of class.

2nd-4th Grade Creative Dance (age 7-10)
Tuesdays 4:15-5:15 pmCreative dance combines skill development and self-expression. Dancers will increase strength and flexibility through balance, body control, dynamics, and simple patterns through space. Dancers will apply the elements of dance: space, time, and energy. They will work in groups to problem solve and express ideas through putting movement patterns together into dance phrases.

4th-6th Grade Creative Dance (age 9-12)
Tuesdays 5:15-6:30 pmDancers will learn basic modern dance technique, as well as expand creative development through improvisation and choreography. They will explore ways to express ideas using space, time, and energy, as well as increase performance skills.
Parents are invited to come into the classroom to observe the last 10 minutes of the last day of class.

6th-8th Grade Modern Dance (age 11-14)
Thursdays 5:30-6:45 pmDancers will learn basic modern dance technique and performance skills, as well as expand creative development through improvisation and choreography. They will become creative movers, critical thinkers, and collaborative workers as they explore ways to express ideas using space, time, and energy.

9th-12th Grade Modern Dance (age 14-18)
Thursdays 6:45-8:00 pm
Dancers will experience an emphasis in modern dance technique and performance skills, as well as expand creative development through improvisation and choreography. They will become creative movers, critical thinkers, and collaborative workers as they explore ways to express ideas using space, time, and energy.Parents are invited to come into the classroom to observe the last 10 minutes of the last day of class.

Adult Beginner Modern Dance (age 18+)
Wednesdays 6:00-7:00 pm
This class is for anyone 18+ who wants to learn the basics of dance. This class will focus on beginning dance technique, creative movement and improvisation, and contemporary and modern dance skills. No experience necessary. It’s never too late to discover a new passion or rediscover an old one.Taught by Caitlyn Jennings.
Adult Intermediate Modern Dance (age 18+)
Mondays 7:30-8:30 pm
This class will focus on intermediate and advanced modern dance technique, creative movement and improvisation, and contemporary and modern dance skills for ages 18+.Previous dance training recommended.

Adult Dance Flow: Movement & Improv (age 18+)
Tuesdays 7:30-8:30 pm
This feel-good, expressive dance class invites adults to explore movement in a relaxed, non-judgmental space. Designed for adults who want to dance without the intensity of formal technique, it encourages exploration, self-expression, and connection to your body’s natural flow. Through gentle, intuitive movement, you'll release tension, improve body awareness, and enjoy the freedom of improvisation.
No prior dance experience is necessary—just come ready to move and feel!

Moving with Grace - Adaptive Beginner Modern Dance for Adults (Seniors age 55+ & Adults of all ages with mobility limitations)
Wednesdays 9:30-10:30 am
This class is designed specifically to provide an adaptive approach to adults who want to learn the basics of modern dance with a specialized emphasis on creative aging through movement and self expression. A gentle-paced class for all levels that teaches basic modern dance technique, breath, and improvisation. Chairs will be available for movement adaptations.No experience necessary. It’s never too late to discover a new passion or rediscover an old one!
